International boxing feast on cards

History in a local boxing ring will be made tomorrow night when three of the four superpowers in boxing, the WBA, IBF and WBO, will all be involved in one tournament.

Phathutshedzo Dongola's Limpopo Boxing Promotion will stage the championship fights.

The international tournament will be a box-and-dine in Seshego outside Polokwane. Tables of 20 sell at R20000, while ordinary single tickets cost R150.

Topping the programme is an IBO welterweight title fight between holder Tsiko "Cruel Junior" Mulovhedzi and Mexico's Jesus Gurrola.

The main supporting bout pits IBO junior bantamweight holder Gideon "Hardcore" Buthelezi against Dominican Republic native Diego Pichardo.

A vacant WBA international lightweight strap will be up for grabs between Malcolm "The Stone" Klassen and Mexican Leonillo Ruiz Miranda, while reigning national junior flyweight champion Bongani Silila and Namibian Japhet Uutoni will fight for a vacant WBO international belt. Prince Ndlovu and Sydney "The Skeleton" Maluleke, will do battle for a vacant IBF Africa featherweight belt.

"Our province will serve as a United Nations on Friday, and we want all visitors to leave in awe," said Dongola yesterday.

The event begins at 7pm.
