Tefu hurt in cup win

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite enjoyed a bitter-sweet weekend as he helped Hacken to the Swedish Cup final but will have to wait to see the extent of his injury after he limped out of their 3-2 victory over Hammarby.

Mashamaite started for Hacken as they reached the country's domestic cup final for just the second time in their history. But he was forced off five minutes before half time and will now hope to be fit for the deciding match on May 5 against Malmo.

Hacken's only previous visit to the final was in 1990 when they lost 3-0 to Djurgardens. The 75-year-old club have never won a major piece of silverware and Mashamaite, a key part of their defence, will hope to help them rewrite history.

Mandla Masango scored his fourth goal of the season in a losing cause as Danish side Randers went down 3-1 at home to Viborg in the league.

Lebogang Phiri played for Brondby as they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Esbjerg.

Dino Ndlovu fired more blanks and was hauled off at half time as Anorthosis Famagusta lost 4-1 to Apollon in Cyprus to likely signal and end to their title hopes.

Kermit Erasmus was missing from the Rennes squad as they thumped Marseille 5-2 to maintain their challenge for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season. He lost his place after the return of Rennes forward Giovanni Sio.

Anele Ngcongca was missing for Troyes following their 9-0 humiliation at the hands of Paris St Germain last weekend. It didn't help though as the Ligue 2-bound side still lost 2-1 at Caen.

Kamohelo Mokotjo was again missing for FC Twente due to "private affairs" in South Africa and although he was to have returned to the club last Wednesday, it was decided he would stay at home as he links up with the national team ahead of the Cameroon double-header.

Thulani Serero again did not make it off the bench as Ajax Amsterdam claimed a crucial 2-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven that sees them leap-frog their opponents to the top of the Dutch league with six matches remaining in the season.

Bafana hopeful Lars Veldwijk netted a goal for PEC Zwolle in their 4-1 victory over Willem II.

The striker admits he has never been to South Africa but says he wants to play for Bafana and represent the land of his father's birth. He has 13 goals this season so far.

Granwald Scott played the first hour of Slovan Bratislava's 1- 0 home loss to Spartak Myjava that put a big dent in their title hopes this season.
