Gordinho's absence gives Komphela headache

Lorenzo Gordinho's current absence due to having accumulated four yellow cards is giving Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela headache ahead of the Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash against Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The match is scheduled to Kick-off is at 15:00.

Gordinho and Mulomowandau Mathoho have developed a good understanding at the heart of Amakhozi's defence and Komphela will have his fingers crossed that whoever he picks will be able to keep up with speed and tricks of Pirates' players such as Thabo Rakhale, Mpho Makola and Luvuyo Memela.

"The position at centre back is up for grabs since Gordinho is suspended," Komphela said during the press conference.

However Amakhosi coach has downplayed the selection thoughts saying it provides an opportunity for the other centre-backs in his squad to come to the party.

"It is an opportunity for others to play. Suspensions are part of the game. However, be rest assured, we will have a central defence pairing to do the job for us."

The Nedbank Cup will give Chiefs another shot at an opportunity to win a cup this season.
