Baroka's prized asset 'staying put'

Baroka FC's most prized asset, striker Thabiso Kutumela, will not be going anywhere when the transfer window opens next month, the club has said.

Kutumela has been phenomenal for the National First Division side this season - scoring 12 goals in as many matches for the table-toppers from Limpopo.

The speedy forward is just 10 goals away from Phumelele Bhengu's NFD tally of 22 goals last season.

Kutumela has been linked with a move to the PSL, and Orlando Pirates are said to be one of the clubs interested in signing the lethal striker.

Baroka coach Kgoloko Thobejane has tipped the player to bag 30 goals this season and is hoping those strikes will inspire the club to automatic promotion.

Baroka chief executive Morgan Mammila is confident the player will stay at the club until the end of the season as they look to continue their dominance at the top of the NFD table. "The players in our team know the culture of the team. We don't sell in the middle of the season," he said yesterday.

"Whoever wants the player should come talk to us at the end of the season, that's what we can say. Nobody will be leaving us in January. In fact, we will be adding a few more players when the transfer window opens. Come the end of the season, we are hoping that Baroka will be up there on the table."

Baroka, who have a four-point lead at the top of the table after 12 matches, will be back in action in two weeks when they visit FC Cape Town at NNK Rugby Stadium.
