Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono, on a high after his team beat Chippa United 4-3 in a thrilling Absa Premiership match at Olen Park in Potchefstroom on Sunday, says he will buy a few players to bolster his squad next year.

His squad, largely the same as the one which won promotion from the National First Division last season, remains third from the bottom on the log, although they have opened the gap over University of Pretoria to five points.

"I need to beef up the squad next year and bring in one or two players. I also have a space for a goalkeeper," said Sono, who insisted his team was one to watch in the future.

"I want to repeat what I said last week, that I am building a team for the future," said Sono, whose policy for development has always been to recognise and build upon raw talent.

"This is the NFD team that I currently have in my possession and the boys have done well." He said some coaches of top PSL clubs would not be able to match his success with a team that had no stars like Cosmos.

"You know some coaches in the Absa Premiership are very fortunate that their clubs boast the creme de la creme," Sono said.

"Take one coach from those clubs - which I will not call by name - let him work with Cosmos and give me his team and see who will have the last laugh."

Chippa coach Roger Sikhakhane praised his charges for coming back strongly in the second half after Cosmos had surprised them with four goals in the first stanza.

"We fought back gallantly in the second half and I was happy with the way we finished the game. We were just unlucky not to level the scores or even win the game," said Sikhakhane.
