JOMO Cosmos have won one match all season but club owner Jomo Sono insists that his struggling charges will soon turn the corner.

Cosmos have stumbled precariously close to the abyss since the start of the campaign and Sono's 14th-placed charges are in danger of being sucked deeper into relegation quicksand if they do not soon add to their lone triumph - a 1-0 win over Polokwane City last month.

Sono cut a relaxed figure as he ran the rule over his players at training at Rand Stadium in Rosettenville, Johannesburg south, yesterday ahead of their clash with Chippa United at Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom on Sunday.

"We play well, create chances and I believe that it is just a matter of making sure that we convert those chances," he said.

"Obviously once that happens we will win games and our position on the table will improve. I tremble when I think about what will be said once Cosmos lies in the bottom half of the table."

Cosmos' Achilles heel has been finding the back of the net - they've only managed four goals in 10 games - and it is this impotence in front of goal that has largely contributed to the club's paltry seven-point haul since August.

Known for his eye for spotting talent and developing players, the Cosmos owner and coach said he was not fazed by the way his players have acquainted themselves with life in the top flight.

"Remember . before you can walk, you must crawl. I am building a team for the future here.

" These players you see here [in training] are the same players I had in the National First Division and I am not complaining. They have done well and I know they will give their all against Chippa United in what I expect to be a tough game for both clubs."

Children will be allowed free entry into Olen Park on Sunday.
