There will be few secrets in the showdown between homeboys and former gym-mates Warren "The Warrior" Joubert and Jason "Badman" Bedeman on December 1, yet it is still expected to be a bruising encounter.

"They know each other's capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. They were gym-mates when they were trained by Manny Fernandes," said promoter Jeff Ellis.

Ellis will jointly stage this non-title junior-welterweight bout with Rodney Berman at Emperors Palace and he warned that the two boxers were ready to lay it all on the line when they meet.

"Bones are bound to crack in this one because there is a lot at stake," cautioned Ellis yesterday.

The 34-year-old Joubert from Mondeor has 22 wins, four losses and five draws.

The 26-year-old Bedeman, from Rosettenville in the south of Johannesburg, is a former IBO All-Africa and WBA Pan African lightweight titleholder with 18 victories, three defeats and three draws.

Bedeman last fought on September 19 when he was outpointed by Paul "The Natural" Kamanga over 10 rounds.

The fight will form part of Ellis and Berman' s last tournament of the year, which is called Christmas Cracker. Kamanga will headline the bill when he opposes Roman Zhailauov from Kazakhstan for the vacant WBA Pan African welterweight title.

Fan favourite Dee Jay Kriel will square up to Thabo Moabi over six rounds in the flyweight division. Kriel goes into this fight boasting a fifth-round stoppage of Moabi.

Also on the bill is Brandon Thysse, the son of former SA and Commonwealth super-middleweight titlist Andre Thysse, who made a positive debut in the professional ranks in October by pulverising Dennis Mbath from Nigeria into submission in two rounds. Brandon will take on Thato Sebuthoma in a junior-middleweight bout.

l Belgium-based Tunisian Hedi Slimani outpointed Mzonke Fana for the vacant African Boxing Union lightweight title in Belgium at the weekend.
