Chiefs still working on being consistent‚ says skipper

Kaizer Chiefs still face a challenge to be more consistent in front of goal if they are to match the haul of three goals they achieved on Sunday against Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout‚ says their skipper Siphiwe Tshabalala.

“It becomes a challenge to still work hard and score often and be as clinical and be more consistent. We are still working on being consistent and I think we’ll get there with time‚” said Tshabalala after a man-of-the-match performance in the 3-0 win at Moruleng in the first round of the knockout competition.

“We had a lot of chances and we should have been three goals up much sooner than we did. It was always a worrying factor that‚ having created so many chances as we did‚ we were not converting them. The good thing is that we kept on pushing and pushing. Congratulations to George Maluleka‚ Siphelele Mthembu and George Lebese. They were on the bench but they came on and made a difference.”

Mthembu and Maluleka both scored in stoppage time at the end of the match after Mulomowandau Mathoho had Chiefs ahead at half-time.

After losing in the MTN8 final‚ Tshabalala said his side were determined to make up for the disappointment by winning Telkom Knockout.

“We want to go all the way but it’s one game at a time. Now that we are through to the quarterfinals‚ the focus for now is on our next league game when we play (Mpumalanga Black) Aces and after that we’ll put the focus and preparations to the quarter-finals.”
