I came here with a mission, but I failed: Barker

Despite having to begin a new life at National First Division, relegated AmaZulu coach Steve Barker says the players put in a great effort in the second half of the Premier Soccer League season and believes there was a great improvement in their performance.

"Unfortunately I think a lot of mental fatigue has caught up with the players," Barker told PSL official website.

"You could see that in the last couple of performances that freshness has been lacking. Our fight and determination carried us through all this time, but that it faded in the end.

"I came here with a mission, but I failed. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied but with a lot of disappointment."

AmaZulu's long hard fought journey was cut short by a  2-1 loss to  Maritzburg United in their last match of the season at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
