LAMONTVILLE Golden Arrows midfielder Andile Fikizolo says they are fighting to win automatic promotion so that they get better contracts from the club in the Absa Premiership next season.

NFD leaders Arrows cruised past relegation-threatened GaRankuwa United on Saturday at Pilditch Stadium, winning the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Fikizolo and veteran striker Mabhuti Khenyeza.

Arrows are three points clear at the top of the standings with eight matches to go in the NFD.

"Competition for places is very tough. Everybody wants to play and everybody wants to win promotion and get better contracts for the PSL," said Fikizolo.

Arrows have KwaZulu-Natal rivals Thanda Royal Zulu breathing heavily down their necks after they beat Cape Town All Stars 3-1 on Saturday, but third-placed Jomo Cosmos are losing ground after two straight defeats.

"We are not concerned about how Thanda or Cosmos are performing. We just have to win all our games and we will win automatic promotion," said Fikizolo.

Cosmos were beaten 3-2 by Santos at Athlone Stadium on Saturday, while the Cape derby between Vasco da Gama and Milano United ended 1-1 at Parow Park.

At Charles Mopeli Stadium, Tsietsi Maduna scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for bottom-of-the-table Maluti FET College against Black Leopards, who went ahead through Morgan Shivambu.

On Sunday, African Warriors and FC Cape Town both won 1- 0 on the road against Witbank Spurs and Baroka FC respectively.
