PLATINUM Stars made four signings late in the January transfer window, all players who are looking to rekindle their careers after lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Coach Allan Freese will hope that Bryce Moon, Tlou Segolela, Punch Masenamela and Masibusane Zongo have the desire to turn around their fortunes, with all likely to be first-team regulars if they can prove match fitness and form.

Having lost defender Luvolwethu Mpeta to SuperSport United, and Tshepo Gumede and Siyabonga Mpontshane to Orlando Pirates, there was no doubting that Freese had to bring in fresh talent, though he will still feel he is thin in the goalkeeping department.

What is exciting for Dikwena fans is that all four players are attack-minded.

Moon, the right-sided fullback or winger, has not played a competitive fixture in almost a year after being frozen out at Mamelodi Sundowns following an alleged disagreement with coach Pitso Mosimane.

Masenamela, who also joined from Sundowns, has started just two games last year for the Brazilians. He would be the obvious replacement for Mpeta in the left-back position.

While Zongo is known for his well-documented off-field problems, the 24-year-old remains one of the most exciting players to emerge from the Premier Soccer League in the last two decades.

Segolela's last start in the league was towards the end of last season - against Dikwena and the Limpopo-born player brings pace and a direct style of play that has been lacking for the ambitious North West side at times this season.
