PLATINUM Stars made Kaizer Chiefs fight for every inch of preserving their now 15-game unbeaten Absa Premiership run in last night's 2-2 draw.

Stars forward Robert Ng'ambi opened the scoring in the ninth minute, Siphiwe Tshabalala equalised in the 16th, before Eleazar Rodgers made it 2-1 to Stars at the break by scoring in the 45th. Tefu Mashamaite made it 2-2 in the 62nd.

Platinum, having tasted three defeats by Chiefs this season, had clearly grown sick of that flavour. Allan Freese's pugnacious team came out fired-up to add to beating Amakhosi on penalties in the Telkom Knockout.

Dikwena breached a defence twice that, until last night, had conceded five goals in 20 league and cup games.

Amakhosi, on the back of convincing victories against Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits, and amidst talk of becoming South Africa's "Invincibles" for an undefeated season, were off tune in defence early, but rallied impressively later.

It made for a cracking match-up. From Stars' half-time lead, Chiefs fought back with determination in the second half.

Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter had his Georges - Lebese and Maluleka - back in his starting line-up, as was Morgan Gould for Mulomowandau Mathoho in central defence.

Inside the first 10 minutes Solomon Mathe was able to put a well-weighted pass through for Ng'ambi to run down the left and chip advancing goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo.
