ANY question marks about Kaizer Chiefs showing signs of going off the boil were firmly put to rest by last night's polished 3-0 Absa Premiership dismissal of BidVest Wits.

In perfect conditions on a balmy Johannesburg evening, two classy sides served up a sophisticated display.

League leaders Chiefs, though, were simply the better team. It was Amakhosi's most emphatic victory of an unbeaten campaign so far, and against fellow title contenders, no less.

Bernard Parker scored a cracking first goal of the season in the 20th minute, Mulomowandau Mathoho adding a second for Chiefs in the 38th. Parker then conjured a candidate for goal of the season in the 70th.

Wits mentor Gavin Hunt made three changes from a 2-1 away victory against Mpumalanga Black Aces. Moeneeb Josephs was in goal for Jackson Mabokgwane, and Siyabonga Nhlapo and Sthembiso Ngcobo replaced Buhle Mkhwanazi and Henrico Botes.

Chiefs opened the scoring with Parker emphatically ending the dry spell after his return from injury.

Parker ran onto Kingston Nkhatha's flick-on header and slammed a finish across Josephs from a tight angle.

Chiefs' added weapon to well-drilled open play was their deadliness at set pieces. From Siphiwe Tshabalala's free-kick curled in from left midfield, Mathoho powered a header past Josephs.

Ben Motswari's rocket forced a brilliant save from Brilliant Khuzwayo just before the break. Sibusiso Vilakazi's introduction certainly added an edge and creative spark to Wits' attack. In the 65th, Khuzwayo did well to save Ngcobo's header. But Parker then collected a pass from George Maluleka, ghosted through the Wits central defence with a touch from his right and chipped Josephs sublimely with his left - a goal of pure sorcery.

lFree State Stars won the provincial derby when they beat Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 at Charles Mopeli Stadium, thanks to Tiyani Mabunda's strike.

lMoroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town played to a 1-1 draw in Dobsonville.
