Hunt won't be duped by low-flying Birds

NO WORRIES: Gavin Hunt

MOROKA Swallows clash against Wits could not have come at a worse time for them - The Students are buzzing, while the Birds are in a crisis.

It's seven games without a win for Swallows, and this should be a cause for concern for management, especially after they recently received a cash injection and new fancy attire from sponsors Hyundai.

The hapless Birds square up to The Students in a Telkom Knockout clash at the Milpark Stadium tonight at 8pm.

Swallows must wake up in the middle of the night with nightmares from the 3-0 pasting they got from Wits recently. Free State Stars rubbed more salt into their wounds when they sent three goals past a shaky defence to beat them 3-2.

Birds boss Leon Prins, who played down rumours of a crisis in the team, attributed their poor performance to injuries to a number of key players. "We have injuries to a number of our key players, but we will bounce back," he said.

But Prins must be tempted to tell his technical team, led by coach Zeca Marques, that the slide cannot be allowed to continue .

Wits coach Gavin Hunt refused to read anything into Swallows' indifferent form.

"It's dangerous to judge people on their previous games," Hunt said. "Besides, the atmosphere is different in a cup game. It is for this reason that we expect a tough game from our opponents. We have prepared well and [are] ready."
