Tuks try keep up away form

CALM: Steve Barker
CALM: Steve Barker

UNIVERSITY of Pretoria coach Steve Barker hopes a week of hard application on the training field ironing out what he described as "one or two" problems will help his side maintain their impressive away form.

They visit Platinum Stars on Sunday.

Save for their 2-1 loss to leaders Kaizer Chiefs in their last match, AmaTuks have picked up points from every away trip this season with two draws and a win from their other encounters on the road.

The club were dealt a weird run of five away games in their first seven league fixtures, which raises questions over the calendar planning at the Premier Soccer League, but Barker has taken it all in his stride.

"Platinum Stars have never been an easy team anywhere but they have had a lot of their success by making their home ground a fortress," Barker said, ahead of the match at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.

"It will be a tough game but we've really prepared well for the game. We've sorted out one or two areas that we needed to and we're looking forward to the game."

Only utility back Vusi Ntombayithethi, who joined from relegated Golden Arrows, misses out after an accumulation of yellow cards in the first six games.

"But while it's a bit of a blow not to have him, his absence is in a department where we are perhaps at our strongest with other options," said the coach of 28-year-old Ntombayithethi.
