City keen to down Warriors in Polokwane

POLOKWANE City are confident of getting their opening Absa Premiership home campaign off to a good start against Ajax Cape Town tonight.

The two teams meet at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium and City have warned the Urban Warriors to expect a first defeat. City go into this still reeling from a 2-1 loss to Maritzburg United last Wednesday.

The club yesterday completed the acquisition of Zambian defender Joseph Musonda. The man who served Lamontville Golden Arrows for seven years will make his debut against Ajax, but coach Boebie Solomons said he only will introduce him in the second half.

"It's our first home game of the season, so we are going all out for a win," said City communications manager Abel Mohubedu.

"We don't want to relax until it's late in the season. Ajax are a good side but we have done our homework to ensure we get maximum points.

"The good thing is that we have a clean bill of health."

Ajax have collected four points from their opening two matches, a goalless draw with AmaZulu and beating Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0, courtesy of a superb long- range shot by Travis Graham.

Their right-back, Cecil Lolo, is confident they will do well in Polokwane.

The Urban Warriors will still be minus one of their star players, defender Nazeer Allie, who is serving suspension after he was sent off against AmaZulu.
