Is this the decider?

TOMORROW night's potential Absa Premiership title decider between log leaders Kaizer Chiefs and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns could live up to the billing given the recent run of form from both sides.

For now, the gamesmanship continues, with Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter saying Downs need the victory more than the reigning champions.

"We want to win the game, that is our total focus. I think Sundowns need to win the game more than we do. But I am not very good at losing because it takes me a very long time to get over it. So, I hope we are competitive enough to win this one as well," said Baxter after his team beat Golden Arrows 2-0 on Wednesday night to remain at the summit.

The Glamour Boys boast an unbeaten record at home this season in 11 league matches, and will be lifted by the fact that although it was a narrow 1-0 victory in January, Chiefs got the better of Sundowns in the reverse fixture at Loftus.

"The win against Arrows was an important one. But I don't know if it means we will be under less pressure when we face Sundowns. I thought we gave a decent performance in the CAF Champions League and we got momentum by beating Arrows.

"Whether that's taken all the pressure off, I doubt that because when you play for a big club you are expected to win."

Downs' speedster Lebohang Mokoena, who scored the winner for the club in a 2-1 victory against AmaTuks last weekend, downplayed the implications of the clash.

"There are still teams with a mathematical chance of winning the title, so we understand fully that this game will not be a title decider as many people believe. The title will not be decided tomorrow because we both still have more than four matches left before the end of the season," he said.

Coach Pitso Mosimane will be looking to stretch the team's winning-streak to six league matches and will be boosted by the return of talisman Khama Billiat, who incidentally opened the door for Mokoena's return when he was injured in February.
