Celtic too strong for hapless City

GOALS from Joel Mogorosi and Frank Mhango inspired Bloemfontein Celtic to a 2-1 win over Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership clash at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Free State last night.

Moffat Mdluli scored the visitors' goal, while they also had defender Tlou Molekwane sent off midway through the second half.

Celtic threatened an early goal through Lerato Lamola, but he saw his fifth minute shot well-saved by City keeper Modiri Marumo.

But on the 21st minute there was nothing Marumo could do to stop Mogorosi opening the scoring.

The Botswana international latched onto an assist by Keegan Buchanan and finished with a right-footed shot to make it 1-0.

Yet Celtic's lead lasted just a couple of minutes, as the visitors pulled level through Mdluli, who scored with a right-footed drive.

Celtic made a change at the start of the second half - introducing Frank Mhango - and the substitute made an impact on 53 minutes when he got onto the end of a pass from Lamola and beat Marumo to make it 2-1.

The visitors' hopes of getting back in the game were dealt a blow in the 65th minute when right-back Molekwane was shown a red card.
