SPRINT sensation Anaso Jobodwana has been included in the provisional SA team for the world indoor championships in Sopot, Poland, from March 7 to 9.

Sello Mokoena, chairman of the interim committee running Athletics South Africa (ASA), said in a statement yesterday that the final team would be named after the qualifying period ends on February 24.

The provisional team of six features Jobodwana and middle-distance star Johan Cronje.

"South Africa does not have a domestic indoor season, but a number of our athletes do compete abroad in among others, the European indoor track and field competitions," Mokoena said.

"ASA will continue monitoring the performances of the South African athletes, and a final team will be submitted to the IAAF on February 24.

Mokoena said the IAAF, the world governing body, had confirmed that it would support a quota of six athletes to compete in Poland.

The provisional team is: Jobodwana (60m); Cronje (1500m); Elroy Gelant (3000m); Orazio Cremona (shot put); Zarck Visser (long jump); and Carina Horn (60m women).
