IF Phillip Ndou does in the ring on Saturday night what he has been doing in the gym, then Namibian fans will regret signing up the knockout artist to fight their prospect Pohamba Mandume.

This was the warning from trainer Bernie Pailman yesterday ahead of their eight-rounder at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.

''I am not sure if the Namibians think Phillip is washed up as a fighter or what," said Pailman.

''The truth is if Phillip does in the fight what we have been doing in the gym, then Pohamba will get a hiding second to none. Phillip has been training hard in the gym since early last month. It is just a matter of going out there and pulling it off."

Ndou, who goes by the moniker ''Time Bomb", has 32 short-route wins from 34 victories against four losses, while Pohamba has five wins from nine fights.

Ndou, the former SA and WBA Intercontinental featherweight and WBU junior-lightweight champ, has fought top fighters, including Floyd ''Money" Mayweather and Lovemore ''Black Panther" Ndou.

The Ndou-Pohamba bout will be the main undercard to the IBF International light-heavyweight fight between Namibia's Harry Simon and Geard Ajetovic from Serbia.

Pailman, Cliff Martins and Peter Faver guided Ndou to a fifth-round stoppage in his comeback fight against Pius Dipheko in June.

''Phillip has never bunked training since we started preparing for this fight," said Pailman.

"I did nothing really except to work on his speed. Phillip has his own style, which suits him."

The charismatic fighter from Thohoyandou said he was treating his fight as a warm-up before challenging the winner between national welterweight champion Tsiko Mulovhedzi and Ntuthuko Memela, whose clash takes place at Nasrec Arena on Sunday afternoon.
