THE legendary Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou is ready to explode again.

The likeable pugilist has sent a strong message to his promoter Luvuyo Mngxaso that he can take on current South African welterweight champion Tsiko Mulovhedzi at any given time.

The one-time breathtakingly fast and furious Ndou, who thrilled fans with his crippling power, stopping 32 of his 34 victims, will square off against Pius "Mr Hercules" Dipheko at Nasrec Arena in Johannesburg on June 30.

The fight date was confirmed by Mngxaso at the weekend.

Mngxaso said the welterweight bout, that will top a seven-bout bill, will be an eight-rounder. This will be Mngxaso's maiden tournament.

Mngxaso, who hails from Mount Coke Mission near King Williams Town in Eastern Cape, promotes boxing under the banner of Brown Bomber Boxing Promotion. "Eight rounds are enough for Ndou's come-back. We want to help him achieve that," said the Gauteng-based property attorney.

He said the main supporting bout will be a six-rounder between Bongani Mlotshwa and Kobus Motlhoding.

Ndou has not seen action since 2011 when he outpointed Welcome Ntshingila over eight rounds in Brakpan.

Ndou, 36, the former SA, WBA Inter-Continental featherweight, WBC International and WBU junior lightweight titlist, will also be making a return to Nasrec Arena where he last fought in 1999 when he blasted American Len Martinez in the first round.

Ndou has four defeats. The last was a points loss to Lovemore "Black Panther" Ndou for the IBO welterweight belt at Emperors Palace on July 11 2009.

Dipheko, from Kagiso on the West Rand, has an unimpressive fight record of 13 wins (4 KOs) against 11 losses and six draws.

Ndou concluded: "When you put a bomb, you just set the time for it to explode ... tick-tick, tick-tick."
