Bucs in upbeat mood

WOUNDED Orlando Pirates left for Comoros yesterday confident of embarrassing FC Djabal in their own back yard in Moroni tomorrow in their African Champions League preliminary round return match.

Although Pirates will be missing some players, they hold a 5-0 advantage from the first leg played at home two weeks ago.

Bucs were without the likes of Daine Klate, Collins Mbesuma, Thabo Matlaba and Oupa Manyisa when they boarded their charter flight yesterday.

Attacking midfielder Sifiso Myeni, who scored the opening goal in the 5-0 rout at Orlando Stadium two weeks ago, is out for the rest of season after sustaining an injury in the midweek loss to Moroka Swallows.

Zimbabwean Takesure Chinyama, who netted four goals in the first leg, will spearhead the attack.

Klate and company will be training at home under the watchful eye of assistant coach Tebogo Moloi.

"I did not travel with the guys to Comoros because the job has been done after we scored five goals in the first leg, there is no way Djabal will bounce back," said Moloi.

Moloi will also be going to the Swaziland on Sunday morning to scout the other African Champions League game between Mbabane Swallows and Zanaco of Zambia.

The Zambians won the first leg 3-2 two weeks ago and are favoured to eliminate the Swazi outfit.

The winner of the Swaziland game will play Pirates in the first round proper if the South African side eliminates FC Djabal.
