KOOS Sibiya has threatened to douse the flames when he takes on Grant "Fireball" Fourie in their eagerly awaited grudge fight at Emperors Palace.

"Fireball or fire; it does not matter; the result will be the same," declared Sibiya yesterday. "I beat Grant when I took the first fight three days before it happened; nothing will stop me from doing it again because I will have had enough time to prepare this time."

Sibiya's plan, he revealed, was to pummel Fourie into retirement so as to send a stern warning to national champion Godfrey "The Punisher" Nzimande. "That is where I am heading for - the SA title; so anyone I meet along the way must prepare for war.

"A wrong move now will shatter my aspiration of challenging for the title."

The "Last Great Warrior" will do battle with Fourie, the nephew of former national middle and light heavyweight undefeated champion Pierre Fourie, in a non-title six rounder on December 3.

Sibiya outpointed Fourie over six rounds in their first fight last December. Fourie disagreed with the ruling but took the correct course of action and approached promoter Jeff Ellis to negotiate with the Sibiya camp for a rematch.

Fortunately trainers Bernie Pailman, Cliff Martins and Peter Faver had no difficulty convincing their charge to sign on the dotted line with Ellis.

The trio and their charge are so confident about repeating what they did to Fourie in the first fight that they accepted the second match when Sibiya, who is rated No5, was still preparing for a six-rounder that he won against Thembani Hobyane at Jabulani Mall, Soweto, last weekend.

Pailman described Fourie as a "one-dimensional" fighter, who "no matter how hard he trains" Sibiya will always beat.

Pailman said the recent positive results from Sipho Taliwe, Malcolm Klassen and Sydney Maluleka have done wonders for the other boxers in his gym: "They are highly motivated."

Taliwe beat Mzonke Fana, while Klassen effectively ended the career of Cassius Baloyi. Maluleka dethroned Sabelo Jubatha as SA featherweight champion.

The second instalment between Sibiya and Fourie will form part of the Christmas Cracker bill - a six-bout box-and-dine card - presented by African Ring and Golden Gloves.
