ORLANDO Pirates are retaining their legend Tebogo "Tebza Ngwana" Moloi as a joint assistant coach, alongside Eric Tinkler.

The reigning Absa Premiership champions unveiled Tinkler as a member of their technical staff yesterday .

Tinkler, who like Moloi also played for Bafana Bafana when they were still one of the world's best teams, joined Pirates after Wits chairman Brian Joffe gladly released him.

New Bucs head coach Roger de Sa recommended Tinkler to Pirates chairman Irvin "Iron Duke" Khoza.

"I can confirm that we are keeping Tebogo as one of the assistant coaches," said Khoza yesterday.

"Tebogo has been there for some time and knows the culture of Pirates very well. He will also help Roger and Eric understand the tradition of the club.

"I'm confident we have assembled the best technical staff. What makes me more happy is that they are all South African soccer greats.

"They don't have to start first by getting to know the players. Roger and Eric have been around following the PSL matches and know our players.

"Roger, Eric and Tebogo are aware that finishing second is not good enough at Pirates, our spiritual supporters (Pirates fans) always want their club to be the best in South African and continental soccer."

De Sa started his job at Pirates with a 1-0 win over Platinum Stars in Phokeng last weekend. His second match is against Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium next Tuesday.
