NICK Durandt is flying out of South Africa for Panama tonight adamant that his losing streak will come to an end on September 1.

It has been a tough year for Durandt as his top boxers lost crucial bouts in the past three months. But the top Johannesburg-based trainer insists his fortunes are going to change for the better when Moruti Mthalane defends his International Boxing Federation flyweight crown against Ricardo Nunez.

The 29-year-old Mthalane's fight against the Panamanian opponent will be held at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City.

Durandt said: "We have had great preparation for this fight. Mthalane is a road warrior and is comfortable with fighting overseas.

"We are not worried about the hostile crowd because there will only be two boxers fighting against each other inside the ring. It's sad that a fighter like Mthalane has to go overseas in order to fight. South African boxing followers are going to miss out as the fight is not going to be shown on television.

"We've got Mthalane and (Nkosinathi) Joyi, who are the best boxers this country has. Unfortunately, their fights are not going to be shown on television."

Durandt's boxers Macbute Sinyabi, Phumzile Matyhila, Jeffrey Mathebula, Boitshepo Mandawe, Lusanda Komanisi and Simphiwe Vetyeka all lost fights in the past three months. But Durandt is unfazed.

"We have lost some fights in the past, but that does not mean we have to give up.

"I'm confident that Mthalane is going to win," he said.
