TOP Mdantsane boxers Nkosinathi "Mabhere" Joyi and Zolani "Last Born" Tete will travel to South America within the next 10 days.

Reigning IBF minimumweight champion Joyi leaves for Mexico on August 24, while Tete will jet off to Argentina two days later.

Joyi, a former South African and IBO champion, will put his IBF belt on the line in a contest against Mexican Mario "Dragoncito" Rodriguez in Guasave on September 1.

This is the first time Joyi will be fighting overseas since he made his professional debut against Dalisizwe Komani in April 2008.

The unbeaten 29-year-old IBF champion will be accompanied by his business manager, Siphatho Handi, trainer Lennox Mpulampula and cut-man Chairman Tofu.

Initially, Joyi was pencilled in to face off with the 23-year-old Rodriguez this Saturday, but the duel had to be postponed for two weeks because of Mexican TV schedules.

Meanwhile, Tete is on a mission to earn a crack at IBF junior bantamweight king Juan Carlos Sanchez Junior. However, Tete will have to beat 27-year-old Roberto Domingo Sosa before realising his dream of squaring up against the Mexican-born champion.

Tete faces Argentina-born Sosa in an elimination bout in Cordoba on the same day as Joyi's fight against Rodriguez.

The southpaw will miss his trainer Nick Durandt's expertise when he faces Sosa. Durandt is is going to be in IBF flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane's corner when he defends his crown against Panamanian Ricardo Nunez at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City on September 1.

Tete, 24, will be accompanied by top trainer Gert Strydom and Durandt's son, Damien.
