We're here to stay, defiant Jomo says

SHREWD : Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono

JOMO Cosmos boss Matsilele Sono is steadfastly refusing to throw in the towel despite them being rooted to the bottom of the Absa Premiership log with two matches remaining.

"I find it strange that some of the so-called experts have already relegated us," said a relaxed Sono when approached for comment yesterday.

"Jomo Cosmos have not been relegated, we have two games remaining to end the season and I have no doubt we will win them."

Cosmos's two remaining games are against fellow relegation candidates Black Leopards at Sinaba Stadium tomorrow and Santos in Cape Town on Saturday.

"I have decided to keep quiet because some of the so-called experts have been writing my obituary and that of Jomo Cosmos long before we could play our first game in the PSL. Football is a very funny game, we are not throwing in the towel yet," Sono said.

Sono, the only PSL club owner coaching his team, attributed their inconsistent performance to injuries and draws.

"We have been very unfortunate this season, the team has been playing great football. The big problem for us was getting too many draws and injuries.

"I'm proud of my boys, they did their utmost best throughout the season. Nobody can fault them," said Sono, who is known for shooting from the hip.

"We appeal to our supporters not to lose hope. Cosmos are in the Premiership to stay.

"People must remember that my business is different. If we win a trophy, it is a big bonus. My business is to buy and sell players. We have two or three players that will soon be going to Europe. I can't give you names at this stage. Let's talk after the (First Division) play-offs. I'm so excited."

Sono also said that women and children will gain free entry to the stadium tomorrow.
