Leopards coach to pay ex-team R320,000

The runaway Serbian jumped ship from Warriors

Black Leopards coach Vladislav Heric has been ordered by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) disciplinary committee to pay African Warriors R320,000 for leaving the National First Division club while still under contract.

The runaway Serbian jumped ship from Warriors after receiving an  offer to rejoin struggling Leopards, with whom he had been associated on two previous occasions.

The PSL announced on Friday that Heric had 30 days to compensate  Warriors an amount of R320 000, failing which he would be liable for an indefinite suspension by the league.

The Serbian’s move has not proved a profitable one in more ways than one, with struggling Leopards slipping further down the log after failing to win a league game since Heric joined them.

Following their 1-0 loss to title holders Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night, Leopards were left at the bottom of the Premiership standings.

The PSL said Heric had the right to appeal his fine with the SA Football Association, with the issue ending up in an arbitration hearing if necessary.

The embattled Leopards coach refused to comment.

The Polokwane club will be presented with a timely opportunity to get onto the victory path on Saturday when they face Zimbabwe’s Motor Action FC in a first-leg Caf Confederations Cup preliminary game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Leopards qualified for the Confederations Cup by virtue of reaching the Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates in the 2010/11 season.
