Pelembe hero for Downs

STAR winger Elias Pelembe steered Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria yesterday.

With the victory The Brazilians moved to second spot on the log, three points behind log leaders SuperSport United.

Sundowns broke the deadlock in the 21st minute through pacey Mozambican Elias Pelembe, who was set up by Punch Masenamela.

United's striker Fadlu Davids tested goalie Wayne Sandilands in the 43rd minute.

Themba Zwane, who came on for Surprise Moriri, had his shot blocked by Shu-Aib Walters in the 59th minute.

l In Durban, a last minute goal by Luyolo Mapolisa earned Black Leopards a 1-0 win over AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium in a game where Benedict Vilakazi made his debut for the Limpopo outfit.

Leopards striker Thabo Mongalo came close to scoring in the 59th minute but his shot was saved by Usuthu goalie Tapuwa Kapini.
