IT'S OFFICIAL - Parker leaves FC Twente for Chiefs

BAFANA Bafana striker Bernard Parker has joined South African soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs

Speaking at a media briefing at the club’s headquarters, Amakhosi general manager Bobby Motaung said Parker has signed a two-year deal.

“We are delighted that finally we have signed Bernard on a two year deal. It is an outright sale and we would like to thank FC Twente,” said Motaung.

“Parker is a great player, it is a clear intention that we are going for the league title. In fact, we want to sweep the boards in the new season.”

He added: “The acquisition of Parker is not a replacement for Musona, you will recall that we had agreed with him that he will join us if the deal in Europe (Red Star in Serbia) did not materialise”.

The Reiger Park-born  Parker was on the verge of joining Chiefs in 2009 but was snatched by Red Star. At that time, Parker played for Thanda Royal Zulu.
“Bernard came to Naturena back in 2009 and signed a deal with us but that was subject to an offer overseas. He was always on our plans,” explained Motaung.

Motaung added that Parker, who has 37 caps for Bafana Bafana, will arrive in the country later today and join his new teammates for training tomorrow.

“The player has already expressed his excitement in joining Kaizer Chiefs and has said that he can’t wait to don the gold and black.

“I would like to wish him all the best and we have no doubt that a player of his calibre is going to add value to the Club this upcoming season.”

Parker is a graduate of the Transnet Football School of Excellence.
