Platinum Stars gun for Mmbooi

AFTER a massive clear-out of nine top players, North West side Platinum Stars have now embarked on a rebuilding process and Kaizer Chiefs defender Tshifiwa Mmbooi is high on their wanted list.

Players off-loaded by Dinaledi include Dillon Sheppard, Ryan Botha, Kagiso Senamela, George Mofokeng and Edward Williams.

"Yes, it is true Stars are negotiating with us for the services of Mmbooi," Amakhosi general manager Bobby Motaung said.

"We hope to reach an agreement with them soon and we are also looking at lending out Steven Ncanana and Siyabulela Songweqi.

"At the same time Lucky Khune, who showed a lot of promise last season, will be lent to get him more game time elsewhere."

Motaung also confirmed that they had released strikers Nkosinathi Nhleko, Stanton Lewis and defender Wayne Matle.

Lewis is returning to Ajax Cape Town after his loan deal at Naturena expired.

Motaung confirmed the arrival of former Bafana Bafana defender Keegan Ritchie from Moroka Swallows on a three-year contract.

"Keegan has been doing well and we are happy that our defence is now tight," he said.

"We would like to thank Moroka Swallows for the manner in which they handled negotiations regarding Ritchie.

"Now that the defence is tight, we are looking at beefing up the attack. There are one or two players we are targeting and we hope to make an announcement soon.

"Our aim is to assemble a formidable team to challenge for honours next season. We want all the PSL titles to remain in Soweto next season but coming to us this time round."

Motaung has already signed defenders Tefu Mashamaite and Brent Lawler.
