Platinum Cup gets royal seal

ROYAL Bafokeng Sports has pledged its support for the Platinum Cup soccer and netball tournament, describing it as a great platform to identify and develop talent in North West.

Speaking at the launch in Marikana on Friday night, George Khunou, RBS managing director and chairperson of Absa Premiership side Platinum Stars, commended top sports administrator Innocent Sirovha for initiating the event.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to develop talent in Bojanala district municipality and that is why we are part of this partnership," Khunou said. "We have formed similar partnership with communities in North West which we are also using to mobilise support for Platinum Stars.

"Our coaches will be part of the tournament and will be at the matches to identify talent because there is an abundance of talent in Bojanala district municipality."

The tournament started yesterday, with 48 clubs taking part.

Sirovha said: "We have four categories - U-12s, U-17s, seniors and masters. We have roped in netball to accommodate our sisters."
