Pitso calls his team to respect Kenyans

THEY might be a superior side to Kenya, but Bafana Bafana will not take their east African opponents lightly when the two sides meet in an international friendly in Rustenburg on Wednesday.

"We will respect Kenya like any other opponent and winning this match will go a long way to boosting our confidence for the (African Cup of Nations qualifier) against Egypt (in South Africa in March)," Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane said.

Wednesday's match will take place at The Royal Bafokeng Stadium at 8.30pm.

"I would have loved to play three or four matches before facing Egypt, but this is not possible because of domestic fixtures.

"The match against Egypt is very important for us and we must win it to remain on top of the log for our group.

"I made that I want to see the team doing well and the first thing for us is to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals."

It is still unclear which kit Bafana Bafana will wear on Wednesday.

Safa's contract with adidas expired at the end of December but they have since clinched a deal for Puma to come on board as the new technical sponsor.

In the absence of Katlego "Killer" Mphela who has not been training with Mamelodi Sundowns for two weeks, England-based Davide "Silver Fox" Somma is expected to lead Bafana's attack.

The 127-raked Harambee Stars, who include the Europe-based duo of MacDonald Mariga and Dennis Oliech, are expected in Johannesburg this morning.

Mariga plays for Italian giants Inter Milan, while Oliech is with French side Auxerre. Other overseas-based players include Victor Wanyama (Germinal Beerschot, Belgium) and Arnold Origi (Moss, Norway).
