Banyana on a high after win

BANYANA Banyana caretaker coach Joseph Mkhonza is confident that his side will do well in the next round of the London 2012 Olympic qualifiers next month.

Banyana Banyana routed Zambia 3-0 in the second leg at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban on Saturday.

In the first leg played in Lusaka two weeks ago, South Africa narrowly beat the Zambians 2-1, winning the match 5-1 on aggregate.

Banyana Banyana will play either Tunisia or Morocco in the next round of qualifiers next month, according to team manager Zanele Khanyile.

An excited Mkhonza yesterday said they team played much better than the previous tie in Zambia.

"Our performance was excellent. Everybody played according to the game game. We kept the ball and gave 100 percent commitment for the better duration of the match," said Mkhonza, a former Kaizer Chiefs player.

Banyana Banyana lead 1-0 at the break through a classic finish by Jermaine Seoposenwe in the 28th minute. Noko Matlou put the home side 2-0 ahead in the 55th minutes following a neat pass from Seopesenwe.

Two minutes later captain Amanda Dlamini scored Banyana Banyana's third and final goal.
