Felix in running for IAAF award

MONTE CARLO - American sprinter Allyson Felix is on a shortlist of five women for the Athlete of the Year award, athletics' ruling body, the IAAF, said yesterday.

The 200m and 400m runner is joined by Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown, Commonwealth Games steeplechase champion Milcah Chemos Cheywa of Kenya, Britain's European heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis and Croatian star high jumper Blanka Vlasic.

The winner will be announced at the World Athletics Gala on November 21 in Monte Carlo.

The men's shortlist, published on Tuesday, is made up of Kenyan 800m world record holder David Rudisha, American sprinter Tyson Gay, compatriot 110m hurdler David Oliver, Norwegian javelin thrower Andreas Thorkildsen and Eritrean distance runner Zersenay Tadese.
