I'll send Angel to hell: Cyclone

BONGANI "Cyclone" Mwelase says he wants to blow Isaac "Angel" Hlatshwayo "straight to hell".

The free-talking Mwelase says Hlatshwayo is the only remaining local fighter who can bring the best out of him before Mwelase embarks on an international trek.

"I have a three-pronged mission in this fight - to end Isaac's misery of looking for fights by sending him to early retirement; to prove to the national that I'm the king of local welterweights; and to send a strong message to the international arena that here I come," said Mwelase, whose confidence cannot be underestimated. He speaks so well that he could sell ice to an Eskimo.

"If Isaac really wants to be a better fighter then this is the right fight for him. I will teach him one or two things and he will be a better boxer if he does not quit. But I don't think he will succeed because I will send him straight to hell," Mwelase said.

The 29-year-old former undefeated SA, WBC International and WBF welterweight and junior middleweight titlist failed in his attempt to add the IBO welterweight strap last month when he lost to Lovemore Ndou.

Mwelase said boxing people still recognise his ability but are unsure if he can go all the way.

"Sending Isaac to retirement in a classical manner will set them free. I'm at my prime. I'm focused, determined and hungry," the usually intimidating Mwelase told Sowetan yesterday.

"I will hear from Isaac about the date and venue," he said.

"I will fight anywhere at any given time. He must be super-fit to take punishment."

Told that Boitshepo Mandawe is available to take him on, Mwelase said "the master cannot fight his students".

"I taught (Mandawe) how to box," Mwelase said. "He is still lacking in some departments because I did not teach him the finer details. Let him grow.

"We will probably meet when he is ripe to fight the best boxers, like myself."
