Scotland - Steve Williams, Tiger Woods's caddie, said the top golfer's game is not yet up to scratch on the eve of the British Open.

Woods, who is seeking a 15th major title and third consecutive Open victory at StAndrews, will be paired with England's Justin Rose and Colombian Camilo Villegas when he tees off this morning.

"I would like to win no matter what," Woods said. He won the 2000 and 2005 British Opens at StAndrews and is considered a favourite, having shared fourth at the Masters and US Open.

"I haven't gone this long into the season without winning a championship," Woods said.

"But I'm looking forward to getting out there and playing."

Woods has struggled with his putting this season, so much so that he has ditched a putter with which he won $90million (R680million) in favour of a new one, in the hope of mastering the greens of the Old Course.
