No major changes for Chiefs

KAIZER Chiefs will not be making wholesale changes to their team in preparation for the new season.

This was revealed by team manager Bobby "Bobsteak" Motaung, who said there would be no major changes at the club.

He was echoing the words of club coach Vladimir Vermezovic, who said towards the end of last season that no major overhaul of Amakhosi's playing personnel would take place.

"Apart from our latest signing, Sthembiso Ngcobo, we are not looking at signing more players except a central defender, which we are doing. We are going to make announcements in due time regarding further developments," Motaung said.

He also confirmed that Tinashe Nengomasha and Valery Nahayo would be leaving for Qatar soon. "The only thing remaining is to sort out their visas. There has also been interest in Tshepo Bulu from SuperSport United.

"We also have a number of youngsters coming through from our development structures."

Motaung said a number of friendly games are lined up ahead of the new season and added that they would be going all out to wrest the league title from three-time champions United.

"Our aim is to win the league and trophies because we are a trophy-winning team. Our supporters have grown accustomed to us winning and that is what we are going to be embarking on."

He also called on the Amakhosi faithfuls to come out in numbers and vote their club into the yearly Telkom Charity Cup.

"Kaizer Chiefs has to be there because this is for a very good cause. We are confident that our fans will ensure that we take part in the tournament to give back to the needy and also come and enjoy the football."
