ZIMBABWEAN national team goalkeeper Washington Arubi is in South Africa undergoing trials with AmaZulu.

The 25-year-old Dynamos keeper, already a seasoned professional with 35 caps, hopes to follow in the footsteps of other outstanding Zimbabweans plying their trade in the Absa Premiership and says he is looking forward to impressing new coach Manqoba Mngqithi and his assistant Fani Madida.

"I am looking forward to being here. There are a lot of good players in Zimbabwe but the financial rewards are not as good as they are in South Africa," he said.

Arubi has had a great start to the Zimbabwean season and has conceded just one goal in seven matches.

Also, Zimbabwean champions Dynamos are campaigning in the African Champions League and Arubi hopes to have made a good impression at AmaZulu by next week, as his team is scheduled to play a crucial match against Congolese side TPMazembe on July 16 at home.

"It is very difficult to play on the continent because every team wants to win," said Arubi, who tried to find his fortune in Finland. "I passed the trial, but they wanted to pay me peanuts, so I went home."

• l Meanwhile, PSL debutants Vasco da Gama have placed Christian Moudothe-Bille on transfer. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Black Leopards player was instrumental in the team's promotion to the elite league and still has a year left on his contract.

The 28-year old Cameroonian denies that there is any problem between himself and his team. "Yes, I may leave if we do not understand each other but the club has been very good to me," Moudothe-Bille said.
