Mbuyiselo Botha's article, "Abuse against men the elephant in the room we must speak about", (Sowetan March 6 2019), addresses an issue society knows little about.
Whenever raised, the issue is dismissed as either non-existent or that men in such relationships are not men enough and, therefore, worthy of contempt.
Of all forms of abuse in relationships, mental abuse is more prevalent. Being made to feel belittled, ridiculed or despised can have a myriad negative consequences for both men and women. The fact that society provides women outlets denied to men in such predicaments must be tackled. I urge men to visit www.spice4life.co.za
