I am 100% sure the ANC is going to split again at the forthcoming December conference. This will be the sixth split since 1959 when a group with differing views formed the PAC.

Then came the split at Morogoro Conference in Tanzania in 1968 because of differences in leadership.

In 1996, the party expelled Bantu Holomisa after he had testified in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Holomisa formed UDM the following year. In 2008, Mosiuoa Lekota left to form Cope "in order to defend the gains of democracy and to keep alive the ideals of the Freedom Charter". In 2013, Julius Malema formed the EFF.
