The killing of white farmers is as bad as racism itself

As much as the Black Monday campaign in protest against the killing of white farmers was an irritation, upon deep reflection, I concluded that we need to revisit Nelson Mandela's non-racism philosophy.

I am arguing this point based on the fact that the defeat of apartheid as espoused by the Eugene Terre'blanches of this world was not a miracle.

Upon his release from jail, Mandela started a journey of dismantling race politics in South Africa.

However, recent developments such as the use of the white monopoly capital lexicon in our political discourse are reversing some of the gains attained during Mandela's reign.

Both AfriForum and Black First Land First (BLF) are proponents of race politics that will not assist in uniting black and white people of our country. Referring to the issue of killing of farmers, an appropriate response based on Mandela's non-racism philosophy would tell us that it is wrong to kill another human being. Period.
