PSL owes us

SOME Premier Soccer League clubs seem ready to give each other a damn good run.

Two of the league's crowd-pullers - Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs - have received lucrative sponsorships from network operator Vodacom. Needless to say, Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United, Ajax Cape Town, Platinum Stars and others are also well resourced.

There are indications that smaller teams have the means to ensure they will not be ball-watchers.

The battle for players during the transfer window period was indicative of how tough the league will be this season.

But this development is meaningless if the league fails to produce players who can do us proud when selected for national duty.

As Afcon 2013 and the Fifa World Cup 2014 loom, we look to the PSL - which opens today - to produce top quality players for Bafana Bafana.
