Use votes to bring in party that will deliver

NOW that blood has been shed, what is our government going to do about service delivery?

NOW that blood has been shed, what is our government going to do about service delivery?

If our government was genuine in providing basic needs - water, electricity, roads etc - Andries Tatane would be alive.

If the so-called civic body Sanco was really the mouth, ears and eyes of communities and not aligned to the ANC, Tatane would be alive.

If our electoral system hada bottom-top approach and not a top-bottom one, where the ruling party imposes its political appointees on communities, marches and toyi-toyis would be unnecessary.

If the electorate was literate or maybe not indebted to one party, the ruling party would not be so arrogant, to say that it will rule till Christ's Second Coming. They would know that if they do not deliver, they will be voted out.

Now that Tatane is no more, will government review its approach to the way it deals with people's needs or will it wait till more Tatanes are killed? How many Tatanes must be killed before they realise that their policies are dictatorial?

Sanco also must be seen to be representing communities. It should not align itself with one party. If Sanco remains aligned to one party, as it is now, it will either push its ally's agenda or it will not be able to raise the communities' concerns.

I beg voters to vote for a party that can deliver. We are not indebted to any one, not even to those who claim to have liberated us. Yes, credit must be given to the ANC and all organisations that fought apartheid, but dues were paid in 1994 when we voted the Nats out . Now, we do not owe anybody anything. Vote for those who can deliver and if they don' t , vote them out. The power is in our X's.
