Haiti was ranked second among 162 countries on the Global Slavery Index by the Walk Free Foundation. The study estimated the number of people in each nation who are affected by forced and bonded labor, human trafficking, forced marriages, and the use of children in the military. Mauritania ranked first.
Haiti finished second because an estimated one in 10 children works as a domestic servant.
