A popular yoga guru has ended his hunger strike but says his battle against endemic corruption in India will continue.

Baba Ramdev sipped a glass of fruit juice offered by supporters Tuesday to end the fast aimed at pressuring the government to bring back billions of dollars of illegal money allegedly stashed away by Indians in foreign banks.

Ramdev told thousands of supporters in New Delhi that they should remove the governing Congress party from office and fight for accountability in government.

Fed up with the country's entrenched corruption, thousands of poor people joined Ramdev in fasting for the past six days. Ramdev gave up a plan on Monday to march to Parliament after police denied him permission to hold the rally.
