Cops mistaken for strippers at bachelorette party

"The girls were in fine form and the police nearly had their shirts taken off, but they managed to escape with their dignity intact"

Policemen arriving to investigate reports of a bar-room brawl  had to beat a swift retreat when a group of women celebrating a member’s forthcoming wedding mistook them for a troupe of male strippers.

“The girls were in fine form and they nearly had their shirts taken off but they managed to escape with their dignity intact,” Senior Sergeant Louise Jorgensen told the Northern Territory News on Friday.

Police said no charges would be laid in connection with Thursday night’s incident in the far-north Australian city of Darwin.
