Now, a Western Cape police counter-intelligence unit has returned to the case as part of an analysis into the actions of certain senior officers in 2009.

Western Cape top cop Major-General Jeremy Veary has rubbished claims made against him and his fellow officers by the alleged victims and ex-cops, saying there is no investigation into his conduct and no truth to the allegations.
But while the analysis continues within the police force, the murder of Jacobs, who was killed while trying to protect his community from gang members, remains unsolved.
