President Cyril Ramaphosa on Friday announced the appointment of eight new SABC board members following recommendations made to him by the National Assembly.

President Cyril Ramaphosa on Friday announced the appointment of eight new SABC board members following recommendations made to him by the national assembly.  

The group will start with immediate effect.

"The new members of the board will serve the unexpired term of office of the members who resigned from the SABC board, which will expire on October 15 2022," Ramaphosa's office said.

The new board members : Mary Papayya, Jasmina Patel, Dr Marcia Socikwa, Bernedette Muthien, Mamodupi Mohlala-Mulaudzi, advocate Benjamin Motshedi Lekalakala, Prof Sathasivan Cooper and David Maimela.

Mohlala-Mulaudzi is deputy chairperson.
