Eskom is at the centre of daily conversation due to the effects of power outages on the economy and the lives of South Africans.

From it's unbundling to load-shedding, here are five quotes from politicians that show a solution is far off.

Julius Malema - February 2019

"Your (government's) approach to Eskom is going to destroy the power utility, and as people who are going to be here and still active in 30 to 40 years, we are not going to allow you to destroy Eskom."

President Cyril Ramaphosa -March 2019

"Eskom plays a critical role in the life of South Africa, and life of South Africans. Due to its important role in the economy, its inability to provide electricity on demand and on time is a crisis. We should pay due attention to what needs to be done."

Mmusi Maimane -March 2019

"President Ramaphosa's apology for load-shedding is not good enough. He played a central role in the systematic collapse of Eskom, which has led to this crisis. He must take immediate and decisive action to transform our energy sector to help stabilise the economy."

Pravin Gordhan -March 2019

"It's going to be a huge struggle ahead of us to actually overcome this crisis. We'll get it right in the next year or two."

Natasha Mazzone - March 2019

"The challenges at Eskom lie squarely at the feet of the failing ANC, which has actively looted and broken Eskom to the verge of collapse. Continued blackouts like we have seen are causing a jobs bloodbath that the people of this country cannot afford."
